Indian fine dining since 1986

Kuti’s Brasserie was established in 1986 by Kuti Miah. After building a reputation as a charismatic restaurant showman Mr Kuti set his sights on opening his own restaurant with the ‘Kuti’s stamp’. His first restaurant opened on London Road in Southampton. Because of its popularity the restaurant moved to larger premises in Oxford Street in 1994. The restaurant became known locally and nationally for the quality and authenticity of its cooking and reputation for excellence.

In 2018 the restaurant moved again to larger premises at the Royal Pier building in Southampton. After a near six month refurbishment the new restaurant was finally opened on August 10th, 2018. During the renovation every detail was updated whilst maintaining the feel and character of this historical Southampton Building.

A PART OF THE HISTORY OF SOUTHAMPTON

The Royal Pier dates back to 1833, when it was opened by the Duchess of Kent and the then Princess Victoria. The pier was originally christened ‘The Royal Victoria Pier’, later shortened. At the time, it was the first pier in Southampton, and was used by steamers to and from the Isle of Wight, the Channel Islands, and Le Havre in France. In 1891, a new section of the pier was built, expanding its capacity, this including a pavillion near the middle of the pier. The Gatehouse building was built at the entrance to the pier, in order to accommodate ticket sales for the ships. The pavillion was enlarged in 1930, and the Gatehouse was rebuilt, this is when it became the ornate dome we know today. In 1963, the Pavillion was expanded to create a ballroom. It was one of Southampton’s most popular dance and music venues.
